Read aloud, introduce Hanukkah books for another round of holiday researching for students who are interested.
.What happened:
On Monday, I read a Hanukkah book as a read aloud. I have several books about Hanukkah ready to be researched from using the holiday template. Any student can research this topic. First, I provided books on all four levels of research. Second, I can modify the work load by limiting the number of boxes that needs to be completed depending on the reading and writing abilities of the student.

Many students researched at the green and blue level. My students that researched at red and yellow are very content researching there for they need the extra opportunities to master sentence and paragraph writing before moving onto the green level. A couple of students noticed an improvement in their researching and writing skills. Finally, we started to add in my technology on an as-needed-basis to compensate for some lack of resources.

On Thursday, I had a very small group due to play auditions in the building. I encouraged every single one of my monsters to audition. They could always come on Mondays to research. For the small group that I had, I read them a book about the story behind the holiday of Hanukkah. Then, they began their researching. I had several students improve upon their sentence writing and I moved many students up a level. It was a small group, but they worked hard for the two hours they were after school. So proud of them! It was a very productive day!
